A few of my older proxy domains (various .infos) have just gone AWOL and are now pointing to XZIST.org. But all is not lost!
Go to Defiltering.co.uk for some UK web proxies that are still up.

Guide to finding new web defilters (proxies)
So what is a web proxy, and why do you need to find new ones?
Well, a short description is given on the defilter homepage:
Quote:
A defilter - also more commonly known as a "web proxy" - allows access to websites that you may be blocked from visiting by your school, workplace, or sometimes even your government! Just type the website address that you want to visit into the address box and hit enter. The defilter website will now act as a "proxy" between you and the website you really wish to visit. The defilter website will download the restricted web content and then forward it on to you! Great huh? There are sadly still a few restrictions, for example media rich websites such as YouTube often cannot be un-blocked. But a defilter makes the best of a bad situation... it's better than nothing!
Of course, the problem is that when your school or workplace finds out you are using these proxies, they may block them too! So you need to know how to find more proxies...
Finding proxies!
Web proxy software needs a website to be installed on, you could set up your own (if you have the skills!), but it's far easier just to use search engines such as google to find already existing proxies.
There are several different proxy softwares commonly used including CGIProxy, Glype and PHProxy.
PHProxy
homepage
This is a very widely used proxy as it runs on most web hosts. However development of it has recently stopped, so it might not be as good at running complex websites as some other proxy softwares.
Finding PHProxies
Search for "PHProxy 0.5b2"
or if the word PHProxy is filtered, try "URL Form Manage cookies".
Glype
homepage
Glype is new-ish proxy software intended to replace the no longer developed PHProxy, and it is gaining momentum as one of the most commonly used web proxies.
Finding Glype proxies
Search for "Powered by glype"
Or search for Glype
CGIProxy
homepage
Maybe not the most widely used proxy, as it requires "CGI" which not all web hosting companies support, but it is up there as the one that works with the greatest number of websites.
A problem is that some CGI Proxies keep the original web address in the proxified address, so this may still be detected by web filters.
For example:
Quote:
http://someproxywebsite.com/cgi-bin/nph-proxy.cgi/010110A/http/www.google.com/
Notice that "google.com" is still visible in the link, so a web filter may detect and block it.
Finding CGIProxies
Try searching for "CGIProxy".
If that is filtered, try "Start browsing through this"
Proxy searching tips
- don't stop on the first page of search results! click next a few times to find the more hidden proxies
- beware of spyware etc... Some proxy websites may be fake! (although if you are on a school or work PC you may not be able to run programs off the internet anyway, so you would be safe)
Happy browsing!

Unfortunately my own GP2X is currently 200 miles away so I can't try it :-(
The Defilter UK web proxy network has been relaunched for the new year. Each proxy now has a unique theme. Yay. And there is a central hub at Defiltering.co.uk. You can sign up with your email there to be notified of new proxies.
They're also hosted on a shiny new dedicated server. So they can no longer be suspended for using excess CPU as on a VPS.
